This patch is near the entrance to a building on campus and I caught it purely by accident as I was walking somewhere else when the sun was setting yesterday.
There’s also another orange/red berry autumn shrub called bittersweet that’s much more brambly. It blooms later in the fall. The berries are quite small, reddish orange and wrinkly.
I just noticed that these berries look like tiny pumpkins π They must not need water because we’ve been in a drought for several weeks now. The grass is brown and crunches underfoot!
Here’s to lovely fall colors and cooler temps :-).
We have these trees and their berries everywhere at the moment Sharon, You have captured them perfectly π π
You must have had a great year, look how well they are doing!
When people try to predict the winter weather here in Ireland they always say that if you have lots of berries on the tree’s it going to be very cold.
Hi Nigel π
Thank you.
I’d love to see some of those Irish Firethorns!
