I’m trying to imagine what this building was used for. It seems they went to a lot of trouble to decorate the top of it. If not for these little rundown buildings, most small towns would be rather boring. Great shot!
I wondered that too and wish I knew! Many rural midwest towns – especially the very small ones such as shown here – most of them have town squares with open businesses and maybe a tavern or restaurant, but they’re also lined with empty buildings such as this.
Ghosts left in the elements with nothing but cobwebs, dust and memories of decades past.

Hello Scott, thank you. I agree – these structures give the small towns character!! 🙂
Reblogged this on CitraGran Cibubur.
Thanks for the reblog, CitraGran. 🙂
Just a wonderful image :), I just cannot help but wonder what this place has been used for ?
Hi Nigel,
I wondered that too and wish I knew! Many rural midwest towns – especially the very small ones such as shown here – most of them have town squares with open businesses and maybe a tavern or restaurant, but they’re also lined with empty buildings such as this.
