Wow, this is beautiful Sharon. I love the power lines giving perspective receding into the middle distance. The two patches of orange on the horizon almost look like eyes of a dragon awakening, the right one a slit and the sun on the left, an eye. Fanciful, eh? I love your flat horizons, everywhere I look there are hills, no long beautiful vistas like this.
Eliza! I loved this, especially the dragon eyes. Thank you. π
I’m happy to know you like the flat horizons. So many folks from the east and west coast feel it’s boring, and it’s true that it takes a certain perspective to find the beauty. But beautiful it is–especially in winter.
There’s something very existential about looking out over a bare landscape, where you can see for miles.
Oh, it’s definitely primeval. It harkens back to the dawn of humans walking the African savannah. You could see predators and enemies approaching a long way off without the hiding places! There is a comfortable and safe aspect to this type of landscape. Someday I will experience it in person! π

Just an incredible comment, Eliza. Thank you.
I’d never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense. This is a revelation and one I will keep close at heart from now on.
Thank you!!
And yes, you would love the flatlands. I hope you can visit some day!

Thank you. π
I love the color and the contrast in this picture. The reflection of the blue sky on the melting ice, offset by the fiery sun, is fantastic.
Hello Jessica, thank you! π
