Yes, I use Photoshop Elements to process all my images. I recently bought the package plug in, Silver Efex Pro 2, which is what I used on this one. I increased the structure and contrast, applied a chrome filter, and added a vignette.
The original image was tones of green and blue with the lightest, thinnest bits of ice distracting and opaque.
I was very surprised at how the image came to life when I removed the color and made these few adjustments!
There’s almost a minute geometric pattern, like added noise, to the scene (but not enough to blur). Perhaps what I’m picking up is the result of the added contrast.
I see what you mean. Yes, increasing the contrast really brought out the differences in tones.
For this image (and also images with interesting sky and clouds), increasing the structure really brings out the differences in texture.
I wish I could say this final image was the realization of what I saw when I got the shot, but in this case, I just loved the patterns in the ice, took a few pictures, and played with the results. The mystery and gift of digital photography……..
Definitely cubism…reminds one of a Picasso…
Hi Cnawan, I’m happy you see it, too.
Happy winter to you. ๐
