I have a thing for gnarled and writhing tree roots, and always have to photograph them when I see them. This is magnificent! I would be surprised if the tree is still alive.
The coast of Door County is full of cedars clinging to the dolomite shelf of the Niagra escarpment. They are very much alive, some hundreds of years old, and beautiful. Thanks for the great comment!
