Sharon, as I was scanning your home page this morning, I was struck by and reminded of the wonderful manner with which you take a spare subject and emphasize it so well with a blurred background or bokeh effect. Many shooters of bokeh shots go for the circular blur of distant lights, but your backgrounds strike me as more ethereal. I love your photographic eye. You are the supreme mistress of spare compositions and blur! (A compliment, in case there’s any doubt.) Best, Brett
Brett!! Of course I take it as a compliment. I’m thrilled with your kind and generous input. Thank you! π
I’ll ‘fess up and say that I would LOVE to get those circular bokeh lights in all my shots, and probably would if I could. But I’ve got so many things working against me when I go out to shoot (light; time of day when I can shoot, etc), that it’s impossible.
I recently purchased a Nikon 60mm 2.8, and it’s really opened things up. I love the effect it gives. Even in low light, which has been pretty much every day here for a couple of months, this lens seems to work magic.
I also love simple compositions. We’ve had a terrific, real Midwest winter this year (something you’re probably used to in Canada!), so shooting in the snow and stark landscape has been a lot of fun.
It’s great to hear from you. I’m pleased you spent time looking at my images and then took the time to write.
That’s a terrific lens — I have a similar Nikon 50 mm and another Nikon 105 mm macro lens both if which produce great bokeh shots. Keep doing your good stuff and working your magic!
Wow! This is superb Sharon! π Nice colors.
Thank you very much, Meho. π
love this photo, great flow color and design, really nice!
Hi Rob, thank you. π
I like where you’ve been going lately.
Thanks so much, Paul. π
The contrasting colors of blue and gold provide a pleasing background to the grass – nicely done!
Hi Eliza, I was surprised at the colors in this one myself! Sometimes you never know.
Thank you :-).
Beautiful pic Sharon ! Love the background colors. π
Hi Divya, thanks so much.
What a lovely profile pic you have! Ah, spring. π
bokeh at its best !
Bokeh is the best, isn’t it. π
Thank you very much.
Wonderful composition.
Thank you :). I’m enjoying your point-and-shoot experiment.
