  1. Sharon, as I was scanning your home page this morning, I was struck by and reminded of the wonderful manner with which you take a spare subject and emphasize it so well with a blurred background or bokeh effect. Many shooters of bokeh shots go for the circular blur of distant lights, but your backgrounds strike me as more ethereal. I love your photographic eye. You are the supreme mistress of spare compositions and blur! (A compliment, in case there’s any doubt.) Best, Brett

    • Brett!! Of course I take it as a compliment. I’m thrilled with your kind and generous input. Thank you! πŸ™‚

I’ll ‘fess up and say that I would LOVE to get those circular bokeh lights in all my shots, and probably would if I could. But I’ve got so many things working against me when I go out to shoot (light; time of day when I can shoot, etc), that it’s impossible.

I recently purchased a Nikon 60mm 2.8, and it’s really opened things up. I love the effect it gives. Even in low light, which has been pretty much every day here for a couple of months, this lens seems to work magic.

I also love simple compositions. We’ve had a terrific, real Midwest winter this year (something you’re probably used to in Canada!), so shooting in the snow and stark landscape has been a lot of fun.

It’s great to hear from you. I’m pleased you spent time looking at my images and then took the time to write.

      Thanks very much. πŸ™‚

  2. That’s a terrific lens — I have a similar Nikon 50 mm and another Nikon 105 mm macro lens both if which produce great bokeh shots. Keep doing your good stuff and working your magic!
