Does this lead into LaMoine River? I’ve been curious about watersheds and waterways around McDonough County. I took a trip to WIU’s geography department and studied maps of water basins.
Holly, I just saw this! Yes, Drowning Fork leads to the LaMoine which leads to the Illinois (ending near Beardstown) which leads to the Mississippi, and so on. The history of this creek and how it got its name is very interesting. John Hallwas wrote extensively about it in one of his earlier books. If you ever want, let me know and I’d be glad to copy the chapters for you. I, too, am fascinated with the watersheds of Forgottonia. They tell stories.
